Ingredients you need to make Cinnamon Twists:
- 1 pack of reduced fat pillsbury crescent rolls
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened apple sauce
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
How to make Cinnamon Twists (step by step):
- Preheat the oven to 375F, spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray, and set aside.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and portion it into four sections of two. Pinch any seams closed.
- Using a pastry brush, brush the apple sauce onto two of your dough pieces.
- Mix the sugar and cinnamon together in a small bag or bowl and then sprinkle 1 tablespoon onto each dough piece that you brushed with apple sauce. Set the rest aside to sprinkle on top of the cinnamon twists.
- Place the other dough pieces on top of the covered pieces.
- Use a pizza cutter and cut each piece into 9 small strips.
- Grab the ends of each small strip, and twist in opposite directions until you get a pretty spiral all the way down the piece. Place each piece on the cookie sheet. Sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon sugar mix.
- Bake them in the oven for 10-12 minutes, checking often so they don’t burn.

- You can try using a Splenda baking sugar instead of table sugar to save yourself some points.
- Switch the sugar to brown sugar or Splenda brown sugar for a caramelized flavor.

- If you don’t have applesauce, you can use an egg white, egg wash, or even spray butter. To use spray butter, just lightly spray the butter over the dough. To use an egg white or egg wash, beat the egg white or egg in a small bowl until frothy. Spread it onto the dough with the pastry brush in place of the applesauce. I originally used applesauce because it doesn’t add any more points, but if eggs are a zero point food for you, using an egg wash is just as good.
- Keep these twists in a sealed container at room temp for up to a week. They are best served immediately after baking, but if eating over a few days, I suggest crisping them up in an air fryer before eating.
